This game by PercyPea is one of several “mock 3D” Flash games by this developer that pushed the limits of what people thought Flash could accomplish. Other racing game include JetSki, 3D Motorbike, Rally Racing and “PeaKart”. Here in this dune buggy beach racing game, the author used a combination of skewed bitmap textures for the world and many pre-rendered “angles” of the vehicles to make it look like true 3D (or close to it anyways).
The game defaults to a “Low Quality” setting since Flash on PCs at the time couldn’t really push many frames per second, but now 15 to 20 years later, we can definitely let the game run at its best (or close to it). We recommend setting it to Ultra for the best visuals, or Medium for the best framerate and controls responsiveness.
