About this game

Released in 2007, Desktop Tower Defense was one of the earliest tower defense games I ever played. If I remember correctly, the game went viral (in the sense that things could go viral in the days before social media) which meant people sharing links or the entire game “SWF file” via email!

This game shows a literal desktop and you can purchase and place turrets to defend against hordes of “creeps” that I guess are walking around your keyboard and other office desk items. The turrets and cannons look hand-drawn, which is part of the game’s charm.

After placing them you click Start and the creeps come through and try to get to the exit while your defenses auto-shoot them.

Another charming part of the game that only older games will recognize are the sound effects taken from the classic game “Lemmings“. You can hear the very recognizable “Let’s Go” as well as the little oofs they make when taking damage.
