In the early days of Flash games emerged the term “advergames” and a whole new segment of marketing and advertising was born!
This Stuart Little movie promotion dates back all the way to 2002! Play as Stuart Little on a skateboard and jump over obstacles to gain points.
The game is very “Flash style” with basic art that’s heavy on gradients and low on proper graphic design sensibilities (but those were the days!)
You’ll notice a “Share This Game” banner and this was part of the overall marketing strategy; Get people to send links or even the entire game file to others and then people learn about and spread the word for the licensed tie-in product (in this case a Stuart Little movie sequel).
Examples of other such “games as marketing tools” include 2008’s winner of longest web game name “Professor Sauernoggin and the Landfill Of Doom” still playable now courtesy of LilGames.com web games portal, and on this site you check out the 2003 “Fido” 7Up Pinball game and this Pepsi branded old-west pinball game.
